Winter sports are basically sports taking place on snow or ice.
They include skiing, ski-jumping, Nordic skiing, curling, skating, biathlon (skiing and shooting - this sport dates back to 1767, with a competition between Swedish and Norwegian border patrol units!), ice hockey and sledge hockey (ice hockey for people with a physical disability).
